Description:
Dogues de Bordeaux are reputed as having the biggest head in the dog world. They are short stocky mastiffs with wrinkled faces and an undershot jaw. The Dogue de Bordeaux has a thick skin and a dewlap on its neck.

An average shedder, a Dogue de Bordeaux require little grooming.
Temperament:
Dogues de Bordeaux are patient and calm and very devoted to their families. They are, however, serious guard and watchdogs and are confrontational with strangers. The Dogue de Bordeaux is gentle with children and family members but is not suited for inexperienced owners. The Dogue de Bordeaux snores and drools. Two males cannot tolerate each other.
Health Concerns:
Dogues de Bordeaux are susceptible to Hip Dysplasia, Demodex Mange, heart murmurs. They are difficult to breed and often have to be delivered by Cesarean section because the puppies heads are so large. Sometimes the mother has been known to accidentally squash her pups while nursing.
Life Expectancy:
The Dogue de Bordeaux can be expected to live about 6-8 years.
Living Environment:
Dogues de Bordeaux require plenty of exercise. They will manage in an apartment, but they are fairly inactive indoors.
