Misdemeanor Charges for Woman Who Abandoned 22 Dogs in Canton, OH Home

Update on last Thursday’s post about the woman who left 22 dogs abandoned in a filthy home here in my little corner of the world.

Rayne Colopy, 36, turned herself in to the county sheriff after learning she was wanted on charges of animal cruelty, abandoning animals, and keeping in excess of five dogs. Her bond was set at $750. (Really? That’s less than $35 per dog! Even the Humane Society charges you more than that to adopt a dog.)

At least the judge had the good sense to issue a no contact order, banning the woman from visiting the dogs.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

  1. I must say, I do not see how you can do that to an animal. I work at the stark county humane society and had a first hand look at the dogs before they had their baths. They were literally coated in feces. They all got bathed as they came in and all are doing well now.

  2. I will never understand why the laws allow people like this to get away with this sort of behaviour. A $750 bail?? Are they kidding?!
