It’s much warmer in Alaska today! Up to 12 whole degrees above zero! The front five mushers, Aliy Zirkle, Kelley Griffin, Jeff King, Mitch Seavey, and Cim Smyth, all left the Rohn checkpoint between 7:26 and 9:00 pm last night.
The final five, Silvia Furtwangle, Jan Steves, Bob Chlupach, Matt Failor, and Dan Seavey arrived at Rainy Pass early this morning.
The 2011 winner, John Baker, is currently in 11th place, having left Rohn at 11:41 last night.
By my rough count, approximately 40 dogs have been dropped off at the various check points, and no mushers are yet out of the race.
