Thumbs down The toilet: a smorgasboard?

This one came to me in an e-mail from Jennifer, which she gave me permission to post. I have a similar problem with my dogs, so I'm hoping someone has the answer.

"My dog eats poop. I have an autistic 8-year-old living with me and he doesn't always flush and my dog loves it. I don't know what to do. We try to make sure he flushes but with two bathrooms it's hard to keep up. I was wondering if maybe you've heard any tips since you have lots of kids and dogs. It's really disgusting and I've tried everything I know but nothing works. Please help!"

I wrote back telling her I had a similar problem, but no solution other than shutting the lid or the door, but my kids don't remember to do either!

Any s***estions from our readers?

Default Automatic Flush Adapter Solution!!

They have toilets that clean...umm...well they clean you automatically. Really! And I found an adapter that will automatically flush your existing toilet. It uses infrared like many airports and gyms do... check it out! Maybe it will help. Surprisingly inexpensive too...

Thanks Johnny Quest - I hadn't thought about auto-flush!

An automatic flushing device for toilets will help you solve your problem. It has a sensor that detects proximity of a human body. It's really gross seeing our pet eating poo inside our house. It's not new to me either. We have experienced the same problem few years ago with one of my three dogs. We always scold her and we always train her not to eat poo. Good thing she learned after few months. Dogs can be trained. There are so many things to learn about dogs and to know why they do the things they do is a must to learn by dog lovers and owners like me. Reading articles or stories about dogs will help us stay inspired to care more and worry less.
