The Continuing Saga of Kayla’s DNA

If you’ve been following along, you know that I sent away my “mutt”, Kayla’s DNA to try to find out what breed(s) she is.  Unfortunately, I apparently didn’t get a good enough sample the first time, so I have had to re-do the sample.  Just mailed it back in today, so there’s still time to get your votes in.  What’s your guess as to what she is?  See her picture here and post your guess below.  No prizes, just good clean fun.

Until next time,

Good day, and good dog!

  1. MY guess would be, Shepherd, Chow, Rottie and maybe some hound. The jaws in the picture look like they hang slightly and that she is tall.

  2. I had the same experience with my rescue dog. I did the canine heritage breed test and it was sent back, they said I didn’t get a good enough sample, After I sent the second swab to them, another six weeks goes by and I get the nice big envelope with a cerificate saying they couldn’t find any discernable breed characteristics out the 100 breeds and that I had a “true mutt”.
That might be true but the dog looks like a cross between a golden retriever, border collie and chow. Now, I’m starting to think I may have a mix of a more rare breed that they don’t test for. Hard to believe, but my dog really looks like a nova scotia duck toller. So I’ve just contacted someone in the toller club who has 3 tollers to look at my dog and see what she thinks… It would explain a lot about his personality if he was one…
