Ever wish you could take your dog with you on vacation, but since you were flying, decided to leave him at the kennel? Have you ever been transferred and had to figure out how to get your dog to your new home? The moving van certainly isn’t going to take him. Enter PetAirways, an idea whose time has definitely come.
Alysa and Dan Wiesel decided to start Pet Airways after having trouble making flight arrangements for their own dog, Zoe. So, they partnered with Suburban Air Freight, Inc., but the dogs are definitely NOT treated as freight. Each animal is given his own carrier on the plane and monitored throughout the flight by a pet attendant.
Pet Airways has also partnered with other pet-related companies including Kong, 1-800-PetMeds, and various hotels who allow pets in their rooms, providing a total pet-friendly travel experience. Their website even allows you to track your dog’s progress as he moves around the country.
Currently, flights only serve major cities, but they are looking to expand. In addition, they would like their future growth to include other animals besides the dogs and cats they currently serve.

What a fantastic idea.. I have always been concerned about pets flying in the cargo hold of planes.. Hopefully more dog owners will use this service.
