I received an e-mail today from Darren Aliga of Trees for a Change, an organization dedicated to planting trees in the U.S. National Forests where wildfires have destroyed the existing trees.

Update on Holly @ Westminster
We posted last week about Holly, a Dogue de Bordeaux who was to be shown at Westminster, even though she was suffering from a relapse of her lymphoma. We are sad to report that Holly passed away one week before the show. Our deepest condolences to the Saez family on the loss of this beautiful dog.

When Samantha Juskiw and Paige Hoffman saw a police K-9 demonstration at a park near their home, they decided to hold some fundraisers to buy the dogs new kevlar vests, as the ones they were wearing were in need of replacement. A kind, but not truly unique gesture, until you realize that these good Samaritans are only in 7th grade!
