For about the past year, I’ve been devoting Sundays to rescue dogs throughout the country. Working with the shelters and rescues listed on PetFinder’s Shelter Center, I’ve chosen one organization from each state and featured one of their adoptable dogs. I have no idea whether or not any of these featured dogs have since been adopted, but I figure the more people who see these dogs, the better odds they have. Although only one of the dogs in my house is a rescue, I feel like I have an obligation to help where I can.
Since I can’t measure the posts in terms of adoption (unless some of you want to write in & tell your adoption stories!), I’d like to know if you are enjoying reading about these rescued dogs. Should I go back through the list of states another time?
I received this press release a few days ago, and thought I’d share the news with those of you who have pocket pets. As you know, my dogs are all pretty big, so I can’t say I have reviewed this food. Let me know what you think if you try it!
This week, I’m starting the first of three in a series of pictorial top ten lists, with special thanks to my brother Jim for sending this adorable collection. Where the source of the photos is known, it is indicated. Take a minute out to enjoy and smile!
If you shop at PetSmart, and you’ve had a good experience there, you could win $1,000 just for telling your story on their Facebook page sometime between now and July 31st.
I went to a graduation party this evening, and one of the couples at our table has been struggling with their Golden Retriever who has cancer. They have another dog, and are worried about her being lonely, so they’re starting to think about what kind of dog they want to get after Molly goes. Then, we got to talking about the differences between buying a dog from a breeder and adopting one from a shelter.
One of the biggest differences, of course, is price. How much was your doggie in the window?
