Aug 26th is National Dog Day

Founder of National Dog Day Colleen Paige started celebrating and publicizing this day in 2004 in memory and honor of the search and rescue dogs who worked at Ground Zero. She wanted to encourage people to adopt shelter dogs, and her efforts have now gone international with six countries participating in the celebration in 2011.

So, join with dog lovers around the globe this Sunday and celebrate National Dog Day by adopting a shelter or rescue dog. If you can’t adopt, consider fostering or donating.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Cesar Milan’s Pack Walk

Scooby-Doo, Cesar Millan and friends are headed to the National Mall in Washington, DC on September 29th, 2012 for the 2nd Annual National Family Pack Walk event. This is not your average walk in the park; they will be walking to save the lives of dogs at this year’s event.

Cesar Millan will kick-off the event with a 1.5 mile Pack Walk. Upon completion of the walk, attendees will return to the event area for an afternoon filled with fun, mystery, education and much more presented by Scooby-Doo, Mutt-i-grees®, North Shore Animal League America and other partners.

Not going to be in DC? There are also walks taking place in many states, as well as an online virtual walk so you can participate from the comfort of your easy chair.

All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Cesar Millan Foundation’s continued efforts to help rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abused and abandoned dogs.

Please participate if you can!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Biker Dog

I’m trying to decide how I feel about this. My first thought was, “Oh how cute!” Followed quickly by horror when I saw them turn onto the freeway. I get that it’s a matter of personal freedom not to wear a helmet when you ride (at least in Ohio), but I do worry about this little guy. I haven’t heard any sirens this evening, so I guess they’re all okay.

And, by the way, does anyone else think the driver looks like the doctor from the old Emergency TV series?

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
