Individual breed judging has concluded for day two at Westminster. for those of you keeping score, I went one for three on the day. My Great Dane, GCH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil (better known as Scout), is still in the running, but my American Staffordshire Terrier and my Weimeraner failed to place.
Check out all of the individual breed results on the WKC site, and tune in to USA Network tonight at 8 pm Eastern for group judging for the Working, Terrier, and Sporting dogs, followed by the Best in Show competition.
As I did last night, I’ll be live-blogging the results as each group concludes.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
The early morning judging is starting to be posted on the WKC site. I’m one for two. My American Staffordshire failed to place, but my Great Dane, GCH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil (Scout) won her breed and will advance to best in the Working group competition.
My Weimeraner, Send Money Honey, will be judged around 12:45.
How are your picks doing?
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
The first half of the Best in Show competition is now set:
The American Foxhound, Ch Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, more commonly known as Jewel, and my pick for Best in Show.
The Affenpinscher, GCH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, called Joey, will be representing the Toy group.
The Bichon Frise, GCH Vogelflight’s Honor To Pillowtalk, who answers to Honor and is the top Non-Sporting dog at this year’s show.
And finally, the Old English Sheepdog, Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect from the Herding group, whose call name is Swagger. This 20-month old dog has not yet earned his Championship status, but beat a slew of champions and even some grand champions, to make it all the way to best in group!
Come back tomorrow evening when we’ll round out the rest of the group winners, one of whom will be chosen Best in Show!

For the first time, Westminster has loosened its entry rules. In prior years, every dog had to have been designated as a Champion before being allowed to enter.
This year, you’ll notice some of the dogs don’t carry this moniker. As long as a dog has won at least one major competition, he or she is allowed to enter. These are called “class dogs”. This new rule allows younger dogs to enter the competition, presumably giving their owners more time to use the dog in breeding after a successful show.
Although the vast majority of entrants have earned at least Champion status, if not Grand Champion, a few of the class dogs won their breed competition today:
Kerryarc Favorite Sin
Breed: Irish Wolfhound
Stackem Up My Way Or Highway
Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
Barbu Jenarae Ruffian
Breed: Bouvier des Flandres
Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect
Breed: Old English Sheepdog
Katbird’s Evolution Matters At Kayas
Breed: Boston Terrier
Paceaway Play It Again
Breed: Lowchen
Hammarhojdens Ultra
Breed: Norwegian Lundehund
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

A lot of people think the toy dogs make good fashion accessories, but the truth is these little animals are independent beings.
Although small dogs are not my thing, I do love watching them at Westminster because their little feet have to scurry so fast when they parade around the ring. So cute!
