Tuesday Top Five: Last Minute Shopping Ideas

shutterstock_164944745(1)Admit it – you’re still out there fighting the crowds, looking for that perfect gift for at least one loved one. If that loved one happens to be your dog, here are some ideas to make the shopping trip a little easier:

5. Tug toys: look for a durable material that will last a long time. If you’re making one at home, the cut-off leg from a pair of jeans works really well.

4. Tennis balls: you can buy a canister of new balls at a sporting goods store or discount store, or if you know anyone who plays tennis, they likely have lots of balls that aren’t in too bad of shape for your dog, but not fit for the tennis court anymore. (Check with your local high school tennis team coach, if you don’t have any tennis-playing friends.)

3. Puzzle toys: these are great for keeping your dog’s mind active, and fun to watch them play with. You hide a treat in one of the compartments, and your dog has to figure out how to flip a lever or slide the cover off the compartment to get to the treat.

2. Plush toys: in the not-so-distant past, we had to worry about cleaning up all of the stuffing when your dog tore these toys apart, but the latest and greatest plush toys are only a shell with no stuffing. The dogs still tear them apart, but you have no mess to clean up, and no worries about your dog choking on the stuffing.

1. You! Without a doubt, you are your dog’s favorite toy. Take a break from the hustle and bustle tomorrow to spend some extra time with your dog. You’ll both be glad you did!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
