My Picks for Westminster 2011: The Herding Group

This is the first of several posts I will do this week as we prepare for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on February 14 and 15.  I’m going out on a limb to tell you my picks for best of group in each of the breed groups.  (Gulp!)  I can’t say I know enough about dog shows for these to be anything other than wild guesses, based loosely on information readily available on the web.

National Dog Show – Group Winners Part One

If your TV has been taken over by football games already, here are the first three group results for the National Dog Show.

Sporting: Irish Setter (beautiful!!!!)
Terriers: American Staffordshire
Working: Boxer

I’m getting ready to feast, but I’ll try to keep 1 eye on the TV for the remainder of the show & let you know who wins when we’re done.

National Dog Show on Thanksgiving Day

Breaking sports news video. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL highlights and more.

The 9th Annual National Dog Show will air on NBC tomorrow, right after the Macy’s parade.  Slated to start at noon, the event will introduce six new breeds, including the Icelandic Sheepdog, the Bluetick Coonhound, the Leonberger, the Cane Corso, the Redbone Coonhound, and the Boykin Spaniel.  This brings the total number of AKC-recognized breeds to 167.
