According to a story circulating on Facebook, a Muncie, Indiana, animal shelter started a program where you could rent a dog for $5 an hour to walk with you while you were playing Pokemon Go, so people wouldn’t think you were an idiot. This much is true, although I don’t think they actually charged people; they just wanted dog walkers.

Clear the Shelters Event This Saturday!

Clear the SheltersJuly 23rd has been set aside this year as a day to Clear the Shelters. In conjunction with NBC, animal shelters across the country will come together for a nationwide pet adoption initiative that aims to connect animals in need with loving new families. More than 19,000 pets were adopted from 400 shelters during last year’s event.

I Have A Dream

MLK DayToday is the day we honor the work of civil rights advocate Martin Luther King, Jr. Arguably his most famous speech was delivered in 1963 during the March on Washington. In the part that I feel is most poignant, he stated, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” He closed with the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last, Free at last, Great God a-mighty, We are free at last.”
