The good folks at NextDoor Blog recently data-mined their customers’ profiles to find out what they had named their pets. The results are pictured here. If you’re not familiar with NextDoor, it is a social networking site that allows you to narrow down your network to people in your own neighborhood. Kind of Facebook meets CraigsList, if you will.
One tidbit that took me by surprise is that the top three names were the same, regardless of whether the pet was a cat or a dog. Bella, Lucy, and Max topped the list. The reason I think it’s weird is because I’m surprised that the proportion of males to females was similar enough between cats and dogs that the names came out in the same order.
