The Greatest Dog Sled Race on Earth, the grandaddy of them all, the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is looking for volunteers for the 2020 race. Volunteers start working in January and some of the tasks take place next June, so there is plenty of time to sync up your volunteer job with your vacation from your regular job.

Tasks include making foot ointment (no you don’t have to apply it to stinky feet!), planning the annual picnic, working at the start and finish lines, manning rest stops, and taking care of dogs who are dropped along the way. Your skill set, as well as your preferences, are taken into account when assigning you to a job.

Check out the volunteer page of the Iditarod Trail Committee (the 501(c)3 group that organizes the volunteers) to learn more.

The ceremonial start is March 7th!

Some day, I will get to Alaska for this. Ooh! I just found a tour for under $4,000.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
