Enjoy your weekend!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
I know I’ve mentioned them before, but I just don’t have enough good things to say about Dog Tag Art. I thought you’d like to see the tag I just got for Daisey. Isn’t it cute?
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
From the Helped By Animals Facebook page:

… Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa , and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker ‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.
He said: ”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued,
”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.” ♥
Nothing I can even begin to add to that!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Best in Show: Affenpinscher, Banana Joe!
Reserve Best in Show: Old English Sheepdog
It was one heck of a show! Narrowing down the field from over 2700 dogs to just one was a daunting task – kudos to all the judges and congratulations to all of the competitors – dogs, breeders, owners, and handlers alike.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
The Best in Show judging will be starting in just a few minutes. Here’s the line-up:
The American Foxhound, Ch Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, more commonly known as Jewel, and my pick for Best in Show.
The Affenpinscher, GCH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, called Joey, will be representing the Toy group.
The Bichon Frise, GCH Vogelflight’s Honor To Pillowtalk, who answers to Honor and is the top Non-Sporting dog at this year’s show.
The Old English Sheepdog, Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect from the Herding group, whose call name is Swagger.
GCH Mt View’s Ripsnortersilvercharm, aka Oakley, comes to us from the Sporting Group. He’s a German Wire-Haired Pointer and was the number one dog in the country in 2012.

Individual breed judging has concluded for day two at Westminster. for those of you keeping score, I went one for three on the day. My Great Dane, GCH Longo Miller N Lore’s Diamond Lil (better known as Scout), is still in the running, but my American Staffordshire Terrier and my Weimeraner failed to place.
Check out all of the individual breed results on the WKC site, and tune in to USA Network tonight at 8 pm Eastern for group judging for the Working, Terrier, and Sporting dogs, followed by the Best in Show competition.
As I did last night, I’ll be live-blogging the results as each group concludes.
