Joar Leifseth Ulsom has retaken the lead as they close in on the burled arch in Nome!

Ulsom left Elim at 1:04 this morning and is down to 12 dogs. His average speed getting into Elim was 6.78 mph.

Nicolas Petit is now in second place, leaving Elim at 4:05 this morning with 11 dogs. His average speed has been 6.39 mph.

Mitch Seavey is in 3rd, leaving Elim at 5:54 this morning with just 9 dogs. His average speed: 6.74 mph.

Ray Redington, Jr. left Koyuk just after midnight (early Tuesday morning) and has not yet reached Elim. His average speed is 6.28 mph, and he has 12 dogs with him.

Peter Kaiser left Koyuk at 1:15 on 3/13 and is still en route to Elim with 9 dogs and an average speed of 5.76 mph.

After Elim, it’s 46 miles to White Mountain, then 55 miles to Safety, and 22 miles to the finish line. We’re getting close now! I look for the winner to finish overnight between Thursday and Friday.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
