The AKC has been sending out press releases right and left, so I have a few pieces of news from them to share with you. This will be a long post, so I want to shout out the highlights right here at the top:
1. Responsible Dog Ownership Days return for the 19th year. Kits are available to help you get started hosting an event.
2. Down and Back podcast, season 2, an historical look at dogs and dog shows, is now available.
3. New, additional dates announced for Meet the Breeds. Continue reading AKC News Roundup→
The good folks at Adopt-A-Dog invite you to join them on Wednesday, August 3rd (rain date August 4th) for the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Summer Concert Series with Octopuses Garden featuring songs of the Beatles, sponsored by Adopt-A-Dog.
The concert will be at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, 100 Arch St, Greenwich, CT starting at 7:30 PM. Be sure to bring a blanket, maybe a picnic dinner for a fun-filled musical evening.
I’d like to start a feature on the first of every month, listing events and fundraisers going on at various local shelters for the month. Kind of a community calendar, if you will.
Here’s what I have for September.
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue of Washington, DC is having a wine and cheese adoption event on Saturday, September 4th from 5 – 7 pm at the Old City Green (right by Wagtime across from the DC Convention Center).
Basset Rescue Network at Daphneyland in Los Angeles is having a Waddle at the Santa Monica Pier on September 19th. Bring your favorite hound to the pier and learn the basset waddle!
Adopt-A-Dog Inc. of Armonk, CT is having their 23rd annual dog show and festival called Puttin’ On the Dog on September 25th (rain date is the 26th) at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich from 10 – 5.
If you know of any shelter goings-on, please let me know no later than the 25th of the preceding month so I can include them here.
