Shelter Sunday: Outreach to Pets in Need (OPIN) / Stamford, CT

Joey CTMeet Joey! This handsome guy is living in Stamford, Connecticut, with Outreach to Pets in Need (OPIN). Here’s what Joey wants you to know about him:

“At first glance one may look at me and think this smart fella has it all. Great looks, fantastic athleticism, and a bright mind to boot! My Foster family says I’m intelligent, playful and a fast learner. I would have to agree with them. I am very food motivated so I learn new commands quickly. With the help of my Foster sister and brothers, I am learning how to properly socialize. Boy!…are they patient with me! In my foster home I am showing progress with continued training on crate training. I am very comfortable in my crate with a bed and some chew toys. I can wait patiently for bathroom breaks but I will let you know when I need to go. The doctors say I am doing a great job and have given me the nickname of “miracle pup” I am a warrior and a lover! Being the doggie brainiac that I am, I tend to get bored without a human. I may seem to have it all but what’s missing is my forever home. I need a human who can cuddle with me and shower me with love and kisses. I want a home to call my very own. Only you can make me complete!”

And the shelter workers contributed this to his profile:
Joey is our sweet angelic miracle puppy! This half pint was surrendered with a dire surgical issue: colon blockage. The surgeon removed the blockage and knew something else was going on — this four-month-old pup weighed a mere eight pounds! Joey underwent testing, including an ultrasound, and was diagnosed with a plethora of inoperable liver shunts. He was placed on a low-protein diet with supplements and showered with love and devotion, and this little pup blossomed and thrived! Joey is now seven months old and weighs 22 pounds! He is a superstar in his multi-dog foster home, and is adored and loved by everyone he meets!
