You know how they put missing children on milk cartons to increase the chances they will be found? Well Marika Meeks, founder of Incredibull Stella Rescue, thought it would be cool if rescue dogs had more exposure, too. According to a story on WKYC.com, she has partnered with her local Papa John’s franchisee to put adoptable dogs on pizza boxes throughout the Scottsdale, AZ valley.
Bubba, the first pizza box dog, was adopted within two weeks of his premiere.
From our friends at 19News in Cleveland: The Cleveland Animal Protective League is bursting at the seams after taking in animals from four different hoarding situations over the past month. They have taken in 89 cats and 90 dogs, most recently a herd of Chihuahuas. They are lowering adoption fees and accepting donations. See adoptable dogs.
The Animal Channel carries the story of Gumby, a white hound who was found wandering the streets and was taken in by the Charleston Animal Society. Over the course of two years, he was adopted no less than ELEVEN times, but kept either running away from his adoptive homes to return to the shelter (three times) or being returned by his adopters because they could not keep him contained (eight times).
