Shelter Sunday: Heavens Tabetsy / Last Hope K-9 Rescue / Boston, MA

Tabby MA

First of all, I absolutely love the name Heavens Tabetsy! This big old hunk of love is crate trained, good with other dogs, and mostly house broken. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

Heavens Tabetsy (who goes by Tabby) is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs you will ever meet. She is also one of the shyest, as she gets very scared around new people and places. Tabby’s first instinct is to run away from what she is scared of, but if that is not an option, she will freeze and occasionally go to the bathroom out of fear. However, once she is comfortable with you, Tabby acts like a normal playful puppy and will shower you with kisses and cuddles! Shelter Sunday: Jerry / Give A Dog A Home / Sebec, ME

Jerry ME

Meet Jerry! This good boy was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas. Here’s what his rescuers have to say about him:When JERRY arrived at the rescue in Sebec, Maine on 15th January 2021 he was very shy and fearful. When in his kennel he would give a warning growl, letting me know he was unsure and uncomfortable at which I respected and left him alone for a while so that he could get settled. I found that when Jerry feels he is cornered he will let you know by growling and when I back off and get to his level he gets more relaxed and will come up to smell and get his ears scratched. When cleaning his kennel I would make sure he was inside before I cleaned outside as this is where he felt the most threatened and trapped. After a few days he and his kennel neighbour had gotten into each others kennel and were sharing the elevated dog bed and his demeanor instantly changed, him obviously gaining confidence through the happy-go-lucky Sophie.

After a few days Sophie was adopted and Jerry had to get used to being in the kennel on his own, his affection for me was great, there was no more fear and he was becoming very attached. Jerry had a meet and great with a GSD experienced family, but when I took him out to meet them, he again became very fearful and only wanted to be near me. After a few minutes we decided that putting him back in the kennel and spending time with him through the gate might help, however, it just seemed to escalate his fear and his fearful growling, turned into barking and we both agreed that he was not ready for his new home yet – more so with the family having a small child and not being able to dedicate and commit to the training and work he will need. Shelter Sunday: Elon / Hands of Hope Rescue / Great Bend, KS

Elon KS

Meet Elon! This handsome young fella is neutered, well on his way to potty training, and good with other dogs. Here’s what he has to say for himself: Hey everyone! My name is Elon! I’m 1-2 years old and I’m all puppy. I get along with my foster siblings, though they have a hard time keeping up with me. My foster dad’s say I’m doing great with potty training and I’m just getting introduced to my kennel, but have done well. I’d love to have an active family and a big, fenced in back yard so I can play fetch and chase squirrels. I can be very rambunctious and may knock over a small child, so older children would be best. I am a quick learner but would benefit from some professional training as I knew nothing before coming to HOHR. I am neutered, UTD on vacc., microchipped, and kept on monthly flea/tick/hw meds.

Elon is currently a guest of Hands of Hope Rescue in Great Bend, Kansas. If you’re lucky enough to be nearby, why not contact the rescue to find out more about Elon and all of his friends. Send an email to [email protected] or fill out an online application.

1/17/2021 This pretty girl is Annie! She is a 2 year old, 40 pound, Blue Heeler mix who LOVES her tennis balls. Particularly squeaky ones! Annie is so sweet but can be a little nervous upon meeting new people. She warms up as soon as she gets to know and trust them. Annie is current on her vaccinations, spayed, house trained and working to learn more obedience and leash skills. An ideal home for her would be one with a fenced in yard and a family who is willing to play ball with her and take her for walks.
