Gracie’s Doggie Delights

This impressive young lady is Gracie. She has rescued three Miniature Schnauzers, and doesn’t let her Down Syndrome diagnosis get in the way of anything she wants to do.

Her most recent project was to start a business selling dog treats made only from USDA-inspected meats, which are freeze dried and packaged for distribution with no additives or preservatives. The local butcher in Watertown freeze dries the treats so they have a shelf-life of about one year and require no refrigeration.

According to the Gracie’s Doggie Delights website, freeze-drying retains the flavor of the meat, making them preferable to most commercially available treats, which are dehydrated. Dehydration removes the flavor, forcing these other manufacturers to add chemicals to make the treats more palatable for your dog.

Their top sellers are beef livers, chicken hearts and turkey hearts. The small size of the treats makes them great for training, allowing you to give multiple rewards without risking obesity.

Sounds like a great business plan to me. Kudos to Gracie and her family and best wishes for their continued success.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
