Shelter Sunday: Southern Pines Animal Shelter, Hattiesburg, MS

Is this not the cutest puppy face you’ve ever seen?  This is Jolie, a resident at the Southern Pines Animal  Shelter in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  She’s a two-month old Labrador Retriever mix.  I don’t usually showcase young dogs on my Shelter Sunday feature because there are so many older dogs in need, but I just couldn’t resist this face!

Southern Pines is a non-profit, and has served as many as 10,000 animals a year.  Their current crowd of homeless pets numbers about 200.

If you’re going to be in Mississippi, why not stop by the shelter to meet Jolie and all of her friends.  They are open Mon., Wed., Thurs., and Fri. from 10-5; Tues. from 10-3; and Sat. from 10-12. You can contact the shelter by calling 601-544-6632 or by e-mailing shelter director Virginia Cheatham SPASmgr AT comcast DOT net.

Until next time,

Good day, and good dog!

  1. Sorry–NO, it is NOT the cutest puppy-dog face. The “hands down, absolutest Cutest” face is on the cover of Orvis’ Dog book/catalog. It is of a beagle pup, maybe a little over two months old, lying on his back in autumn leaves who is indisputably SMILING with lips and eyes in warm pleasure. If I knew how–I’d attach it to this note.
I made an enlarged copy of it and slid it into a stand-alone clear acrylic display piece; This little fellow is the first thing I look at in the morning; a GREAT way to start a day!
