Keeping your dog out of the kitchen and bathroom trash can be a pesky problem. We’ve all seen the videos of dogs with trash can lids wrapped around their necks. How do you deal with the problem?

I posted a video yesterday of dogs getting onto counters and into garbage cans. We have a baby gate across the kitchen door, but it’s not always shut, so we also turn our garbage can around so that the opening faces the wall. For the most part, this keeps the dogs out of the trash, but I still have issues with them taking dirty dishes out of the sink to “clean” them. If only they’d put them back when they were done! I also have quite a collection of bread, donuts, and other food on top of my refrigerator that maybe other people would leave on the sideboard.
What measures do you have to take to keep your dogs out of the trash and off of your kitchen counters?
