I wish I could have brought my Rosie. She’s too young to leave unsupervised with just visits from a caregiver, so I had to kennel her while we’re gone. I feel badly that she’s in a cage for 10 days, but I know she is being well cared for.

Lou DiBella of Scotch Plains, NJ, spent his Christmas vacation building a dog house featuring the stars and stripes, but then he needed to decide what to do with it. He wanted it to go to someone with a connection to the military or law enforcement. As luck would have it, he got both!
The Hackettstown, NJ police department just happens to employ Patrolman Chris Laver, who is also an Iraqi war veteran. Laver is partnered with Jada, a Belgian Malinois who is the department’s first K9 officer. She is dually trained for patrol and narcotics detection. Jada is said to be very excited about her new house.

Decided to build one more doghouse. This is a patriotic house honoring all brave working dogs (active, retired, therapy) especially Conan the Belgian Malinois honored at the White House. Hand crafted and painted from scratch and took about 45 hours to build, paint, and customize. Decorated in our flag colors. I hope I did all the doggies proud with this creation (just waiting on a fire dog decal for back plate).
In the spirit of giving this Christmas season, I am looking to donate it to a military organization, municipality or maybe the American Kennel Club. Anyplace where it can be displayed would be great. Please help to spread this post around.
Just my simple way of saying thank you to our service men, women, and of course dogs for protecting our freedoms!

The agent was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries. The agent’s K-9 partner, Jackie, however succumbed to the injuries from the accident and died at the scene. K-9 Jackie had been serving since April of 2015.
“Thank you to all the rescuers and medical staff involved and please remember K-9 Jackie and the agent in your thoughts and prayers,” stated Acting Chief Patrol Agent David BeMiller. “We understand the risks that we take as well as our K-9 partners; it is never easy when we lose a partner.”
Our deepest condolences go out to Jackie, her handler, and her family at the Border Patrol.

If you gifted a dog to someone for Christmas or Hanukkah, remember that dog’s well-being is at least partially your responsibility. A dog is a 10 – 15 year addition to the family, not an “until” commitment. If the person who has the dog only wants to keep him or her UNTIL they move, UNTIL the baby comes, or UNTIL they become tired of the animal, stuffed is makes a better gift.

When Franklin, Massachusetts police noticed toys were missing from their donation box, they never dreamed it would be their own dog who was stealing them! Golden Retriever Ben Franklin is a therapy dog who apparently thought all toys were his because he’s such a good boy! Officer Cusson investigated and was able to catch Ben on camera, in the act. He subsequently posted the video on the PD Facebook page, making the dog an Internet sensation!
