A Different Kind of Shelter Sunday

Since this is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, I wanted to give a big shout-out to all of those shelter workers and volunteers who work never-ending hours rescuing the never-ending stream of animals in trouble. We see you, and we appreciate you. Readers, please show your appreciation to a local shelter or rescue with a donation of food, supplies, or cold hard cash!

I also wanted to share this post from the Brown County Humane Society’s Facebook page. (I think that’s where it’s from – it was shared by a friend.) For those of you who work in shelters or rescues and are looking for a fresh way to advertise your animals, I thought this was cute.

How Adoptable Animals Should Be Advertised

I know this is an ad for an adoptable cat, but it is so well written I wanted to share it. I spend a fair amount of time dreaming about getting another dog, and perusing rescue postings. Usually, they are written to fit a certain template and tell you just about nothing about the dog. This one, by contrast, really gets your attention.

I think better ads are more successful than boring ones, don’t you? I have to think the adoption rate would go up if rescues and shelters put a bit more thought into their adoption ads. Continue reading How Adoptable Animals Should Be Advertised
