First Day Breed Judging at 2013 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

I’m so excited! I’m 2 for 4 going into tonight’s group judging. Although my Peke and German Shepherd picks got beaten in the first round, my American Foxhound (Ch Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box) and my Bulldog (GCH Itsa Brix) won in their respective breed rings.

You can find the remainder of the best in breed list on the WKC website.

Live television coverage of the Best in Group judging is on CNBC tonight from 8 – 11 pm on the East Coast, and I’ll post the winner of each group as soon as they’re announced. Tonight, we’ll see the Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, and Herding groups. Tomorrow (same time, but on USA Network) the Sporting, Terrier, and Working groups will be shown, followed by Best in Show judging.

Good luck to all of these champion dogs!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

So, it’s time once again for me to make my picks for the grandaddy of all dog shows, the Westminster Kennel Club’s 137th Annual extravaganza. (Keep in mind that I am VERY seldom right – probably because I pick based on my favorite breeds and the cleverness of the name!)

Puppy Bowl MVP

Are you watching any of Puppy Bowl IX on Animal Planet? This year, you can vote for the most valuable player here. There have already been 3 touchdowns, and it’s very early in the game yet!

@MeepTheBird is live-tweeting the event, and there is a live stream camera in the locker room.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing the Bowl, here’s how Animal Planet describes the show:
The biggest event on all fours is back! Puppy Bowl returns for its ninth consecutive year with an all-star, all-adorable cast that’s ready to mix it up on the grand gridiron of Animal Planet Stadium. Puppy Bowl IX brings viewers a loveable lineup that’s itching to play in a winning combination of terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and Fido first downs. Featuring fan favorites like the Water Bowl Cam, tail-gating fans, and the hamster-steered blimp, this year’s big game is sure to be a tail-wagger. For the first time ever, viewers can see slow motion replays with the new Cute Cam. And be on the lookout for the hedgehog cheerleaders. Also, don’t miss the debut of the puppy hot tub, where puppy players can cool down after tearing up the field. From barking beagles and spunky spaniels to everything in between, we’ve got the cutest players taking the field on the most action-packed Sunday of the year. Plus, back for another year is the popular Bissel Kitten Halftime Show, guaranteed to bring the house down! And, sideline reporter “Meep the Bird” will return to tweet live updates throughout the game. Follow @MeepTheBird on game day for the latest news, puppy penalties and behind-the-scenes moments from inside the stadium.

I call it good clean fun!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
