Entries are also open for the 4th annual AKC Royal Canin National All-Breed Puppy and Junior Stakes, which will take place on Friday, December 11th at the OCCC. An encore of the special will air two hours following the conclusion of the premiere beginning at midnight, and re-airs will be available on AKC.TV.

GCH CH Unity’s Maid an Entrance CGC, a Weimaraner known as “Gali” triumphed over more than 1,200 puppies and junior dogs to earn the title of AKC Royal Canin National All-Breed Junior of the Year, held today in Orlando, Fla. “Gali,” owned by Michelle Hunter and Gregory McLogan and Amy L. Tourond of Springfield, Missouri and bred by Gregory McLogan, Vicki Ruiz and Amy L. Tourand was crowned “Junior of the Year” by an esteemed panel of judges, consisting of Mrs. Paula Hartinger, Mr. Roger R. Hartinger and Dr. Steve Keating, after intense canine competition. I’ll try to live-blog this year’s show, as much as I can tomorrow, but I’ll also be cooking, so we’ll see how it goes. If nothing else, I’ll post the winners in the early evening.
Group judging is now underway at the National Dog Show presented by the Philadelphia Kennel Club, although the show won’t be telecast until Thanksgiving Day at noon. So far, no results are available on-line, but I’ll keep checking. It did set us up for today’s poll, though. Inquiring minds want to know: what’s your favorite major dog show?

The 9th Annual National Dog Show will air on NBC tomorrow, right after the Macy’s parade. Slated to start at noon, the event will introduce six new breeds, including the Icelandic Sheepdog, the Bluetick Coonhound, the Leonberger, the Cane Corso, the Redbone Coonhound, and the Boykin Spaniel. This brings the total number of AKC-recognized breeds to 167.
