All the posts this week about the AKC National Championships generated quite a bit of interest from you blog faithful. Just wondering…what’s your favorite event?

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
From the AKC:
The National Obedience Championship is a two-day event and is by invitation only for the top-ranked dogs of each breed. It was held held December 11-13, 2020 in conjunction with the AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Continue reading 2020 AKC Obedience National Championship Winners
A closely held secret! I can’t reveal the winners yet because it hasn’t been televised yet, and I don’t want to be a spoiler.
If you absolutely need your dog show fix, there are highlights available on AKC.TV and on the ESPN app. There are also features on rally, obedience, and (my favorite) agility available, as well as the All-Breed Puppy and Junior Stakes.
Otherwise, you’ll have to wait with the rest of us to see it in a three-hour special on ABC on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. ET, which I will be live-blogging. as usual.
Sorry! (Not sorry)
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
i won’t pretend I know enough about obedience trials to understand the different classes, so I’ll just report what the Westminster Kennel Club has:
The High in Trial Winner was a Golden Retriever named OTCH High Times Quiet Riot UDX2 PCD OM3 BN.
The Master Obedience Champion (drum roll please) was a Labrador Retriever named OTCH18 Rhumbline’s Once In A Blue Moon.
Here’s the link if you’re interested in finalists.
The Agility Finals should be on soon. They’re finishing up drag racing on FS1.
I know, I know, it’s still January, but I thought you might like to know that the schedule for the granddaddy of all dog shows has a slightly different schedule this year.
The agility championship will be held before the conformation show, as per usual, on Saturday, February 8th.
The obedience championship is also the weekend before the show, on Sunday, February 9th.
What’s new is that the conformation best in breed judging will be held over the course of three days rather than two. Hounds and Herding breeds will be judged on Sunday, with the Terriers, Non-Sporting, and Toy breeds to follow on Monday. Group judging for four of the five groups will be on Monday evening. Terrier group judging is carried over until Tuesday evening. Continue reading 2020 Westminster Kennel Club Show Schedule

Sit. Down. Stay. Come. Heel. This June 29th-July 1st, some of the best-behaved and most highly-trained dogs in the nation will meet at The Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio, to compete in the AKC National Obedience Championship® and the AKC Rally National Championship®.
Obedience trials demonstrate a dog’s ability to follow specified routines in heeling, jumping and retrieving as directed by the handler. All contestants in a class are required to perform the same exercises in essentially the same way, so that the relative quality of the various performances may be scored. The top dogs in the nation were crowned from an overall entry of more than 1,900 this weekend at the American Kennel Club® (AKC®) National Agility Championship, AKC National Obedience Championship and AKC Rally National Championship held in Perry, Georgia.
“It is inspiring to see the performances at these three National Championship events. The joy of being there and the comradery among the exhibitors makes this a celebration of the sports,” said Doug Ljungren, AKC Vice President of Sports and Events. “These dogs are truly the best in their sport from across the country. We’re proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of these talented dogs and dedicated handlers.” Continue reading NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN AGILITY, OBEDIENCE AND AKC RALLY® CROWNED IN PERRY, GA
Again, apologies that I lost my interview notes when my phone went missing, but I do remember that this is Jake and Joyce.
Obedience Classic, 2016 AKC National Championship, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Two new competitors at the 2016 AKC National Championship Obedience Invitational. I actually did an interview with the handler after they finished in the ring, but all of my notes are in my phone, which I lost on the plane ride home. My apologies that I don’t even remember their names.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
