Dog Tag Art

Checkers tagIf you follow along regularly on this blog, you know one of my favorite companies is Dog Tag Art. (Disclosure: I have no relationship with them, other than as a customer.)

They make really cute tags for your pets, but best of all, the tags are super-durable. I’ve never had to replace a tag I bought from them, except when I moved. I believe random people submit design ideas, but I’m not sure if they make anything off of each sale.

Pictured is the one I just bought for Checkers – kind of a welcome home gift. Continue reading Dog Tag Art

From WEWS in Cleveland: Meet Sir Darius Brown. This handsome 13-year old makes bow ties to help animals get adopted from shelters.

Born with a fine motor delay, Sir Darius needed a project to help him catch up. His mom, a hairdresser, enlisted his help to make hair bows, but soon realized he needed something more. She gave him the supplies to make bow ties, at first for himself, then for shelter animals who arrived in New Jersey from the south after Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. Patriotic Dog House

From LehighValleyLive.com:

Lou DiBella of Scotch Plains, NJ, spent his Christmas vacation building a dog house featuring the stars and stripes, but then he needed to decide what to do with it. He wanted it to go to someone with a connection to the military or law enforcement. As luck would have it, he got both!

The Hackettstown, NJ police department just happens to employ Patrolman Chris Laver, who is also an Iraqi war veteran. Laver is partnered with Jada, a Belgian Malinois who is the department’s first K9 officer. She is dually trained for patrol and narcotics detection. Jada is said to be very excited about her new house.

Here is the builder’s original Facebook post:
Decided to build one more doghouse. This is a patriotic house honoring all brave working dogs (active, retired, therapy) especially Conan the Belgian Malinois honored at the White House. Hand crafted and painted from scratch and took about 45 hours to build, paint, and customize. Decorated in our flag colors. I hope I did all the doggies proud with this creation (just waiting on a fire dog decal for back plate).

In the spirit of giving this Christmas season, I am looking to donate it to a military organization, municipality or maybe the American Kennel Club. Anyplace where it can be displayed would be great. Please help to spread this post around.

Just my simple way of saying thank you to our service men, women, and of course dogs for protecting our freedoms!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone.

Time to move on to my next woodworking project.

What a nice gesture!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Nothing Gets Past Rosie

When I first got Rosie, I was able to get this very nice “My Pillow” brand dog bed for free because of points I had accumulated on my debit card. She immediately peed on it, so I put it on top of her crate to keep it nice until she got past the peeing and chewing up everything in sight stage. The cats have been enjoying it because they can see out the window between naps on it.

Fast forward four months…Rosie found it! LOL

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
