Saturday Survey: All Dogs, All the Time?

I showed you a picture of my new baby kittens this week (because they’re SO CUTE!), and it got me wondering. Do you think it’s appropriate to sometimes feature animals other than dogs on a doggies blog? I know many of you are animal lovers in general, so I try to introduce some things that are cute, but I don’t want to go too far afield if that’s not your interest.

Saturday Survey: Dogs & Babies

We had my son’s girlfriend & her 2 kids over for dinner tonight. It was so much fun to watch Cooper, the Vizsla, try to play with her 19-month old daughter. She doesn’t have stairs at her house, so she had a great time crawling up and down ours. Cooper followed her up and down every time. I’m not sure if he was protecting her or just trying to keep track of whether she was getting close to his toys. The other dogs just pretty much ignored her.

I remember when my kids were little and my dad would babysit for me. We had one dog that would follow him from room to room when he was walking with the baby. She was sooooooo worried he would do something to my son!

So, I got to wondering – how do your dogs feel about babies?

Saturday Survey: Does Romney’s Treatment of His Dog Affect Your Vote?

We’ve posted a couple of stories about Mitt Romney sticking his dog in a rooftop car carrier for the family’s trip to Canada. This story, although relatively old news, was in the headlines for quite awhile. What do you think? Does the way a man treats his dog affect how you feel about him for President?

Christmas Gifts for Your Dog

Christmas dogJust in time for Black Friday, this poll from Associated Press and Petside.com  shows that, in spite of the bad economy, more of us plan on purchasing holiday gifts for our pet than last year.  43% of respondents said they bought last year, while 52% plan to buy this year.

One surprising stat that came from the study is that 60% of dog guardians will treat their pets to something special under the tree while only 40% of cat guardians will.  Similarly, and not nearly so surprising, is that over 60% of females plan to buy while only 40% of men plan to do so.

Do you worry about your dog getting into the decorations?  Although only 14% of those surveyed said their pets had gotten into something in the past, but nearly 60% they do consider their pets when buying decorations.

Until next time,

Good day, and good dog!
