Best-selling author, producer and screenwriter Nicholas Sparks is ready to make one lucky fan’s adopted pet a star in an upcoming novel! He’s teamed up with nonprofit PetSmart Charities for a unique contest to celebrate shelter pets.
Sparks is a longtime pet adoption advocate and lives with three rescue dogs. The contest asks for fans to submit their pet’s adoption story. Sparks will choose the most heartwarming story, and the lucky winner’s adopted pet will be named in one of Sparks’ upcoming novels and will also be featured on Sparks’ website, along with an introduction by the author.
The Huffington Post had an interesting article this past week about a new program being offered at some dog shelters throughout the country. Hard to argue with someone who’s having that much fun!
I’ve read where people are wondering if something is wrong with her hips or spine due to the way she lies down, but her family insists she is just fine. She lies that way to cool off her belly. My beagle / foxhound / something else mix, Molly, slept that way, and she never appeared to have any problems.
We receive a publication called “Renew” from UnitedHealthcare every so often, and I thought the article on “Pawsitivity” in the newest issue might be of interest.
Sigmund Freud often brought his Chow, Jofi, to therapy sessions. Freud felt that the dog had a calming effect on patients. He even claimed that Jofi’s response to a patient helped with his initial evaluations.
