Turns out pet flipping is a topic that many of you are interested in, so I’m searching for more info on this important topic.  If you’re not familiar with the term, pet flipping can happen in a couple of different ways.  Con artists may steal a dog found out wandering or even take a dog from your yard, then they advertise it on Craigslist or in other online forums and sell the dog for profit.  Alternatively, they may claim a lost dog from an online posting, then turn around and sell him or her.

Your best defense?  Keep your dog in your sight or on a leash at all times.  And get the dog micro-chipped so you can positively identify yourself as the owner.  Also, hang onto the papers that came with your dog and any pictures you may have taken that can help you prove a past relationship with the dog.

Until  next time,

Good day, and good dog!

What do you do when you receive an e-mail like this one? “The director of volunteer services at a local hospice in Pittsburgh, contacted me this morning. He was inquiring about a situation he is trying to deal with. A gentleman came to Pittsburgh from Florida for a liver transplant. Long story short, he now has cancer and is terminal and is in hospice/palliative care.

His dog (Bailey) is still in Florida.

It is this gentleman’s last wish to have his Bailey back by his side as it is now apparent that he will not be returning to Florida.”

If you’re Liz Bondarek, Volunteer Transport Coordinator for Pilots N Paws, you simply send out an e-mail and wait for the replies to flood in. It took at least four different flights and four incredibly helpful pilots, but Bailey finally made it to his dad’s side to offer comfort in his final days.

Read the whole story and see tons more pictures on the Pilots N Paws site.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Pet Flipping

This crime, known as pet flipping, is starting to appear in Ohio, and maybe in your state, too. Thieves steal your dog, then list him or her on Craigslist to make a quick buck. How do you prove the dog is yours after it’s been stolen? Make sure you have whatever papers you got with the dog, and most importantly, implant a microchip! Better yet, keep your dog in sight or inside at all times.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
