Shelter Sunday: Annie / 2nd Chance for Pets / Clinton, IL

Annie ILMeet Annie! What a sweet-looking dog! Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

1/17/2021 This pretty girl is Annie! She is a 2 year old, 40 pound, Blue Heeler mix who LOVES her tennis balls. Particularly squeaky ones! Annie is so sweet but can be a little nervous upon meeting new people. She warms up as soon as she gets to know and trust them. Annie is current on her vaccinations, spayed, house trained and working to learn more obedience and leash skills. An ideal home for her would be one with a fenced in yard and a family who is willing to play ball with her and take her for walks. Because she is playful and energetic, Annie would do best with older children. She would also prefer to be your one-and-only pet companion.

Annie is currently a guest of 2nd Chance for Pets in Clinton, Illinois. If you’re lucky enough to be close by, why not contact the shelter to ask more about Annie and all of her friends. Call (217) 935-3488, send an email to [email protected] or fill out an application.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

A Heartwarming Story To End The Year

Here’s a link to the full story from ABC-7

This is a shelter with an uncommon focus. In addition to rescuing animals, W-Underdogs works with underprivileged kids. Their mission: The W-Underdogs organization empowers youth in underserved communities to discover their voices and teaches them the value of compassion toward animals and people.

They are in the process of moving into a new shelter in Atlanta, so the fire wasn’t as devastating as it might have been, and all the animals are A-OK.

I’m told the shelter is working on collecting funds to help their Good Samaritan, but I couldn’t find a link anywhere.

I told you this would be a heartwarming story!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Shelter Sunday: Madonna / Citrus County Animal Services / Inverness, FL

Madonna FL

Meet Madonna! What a great name for a dog going into Christmas week.

This beauty is deaf and can do well in a home with both children and other dogs. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

Not many ever achieve the designation of “Rock Star” in play groups but Madonna has! The play group leader says she is social, tolerant, and playful. She has taken on the role of “Greeter/Helper”. She uses a few different play styles in the groups depending upon who she is playing with. She can play Gentle/Dainty, Push/Pull, and Rough/Rowdy. She is a confident player and is good at avoiding conflict and removing herself from pressure. She has excellent social skills and the group leader uses Madonna to help him test other dogs. She’s so sweet and absolutely loves the attention that she gets from volunteers and staff. What a lovely girl!

Madonna is easy to leash up and very eager to please her handlers. She walks very nicely on the leash. She is super friendly to people and likes to cuddle. She is deaf but seems to connect and understand people and other animals. She is an adult age 2-6 years old and weighs 51 pounds.

MADONNA’S ADOPTION FEE IS SPONSORED VIA THE “SPONSOR ME HOME” PROGRAM!

Madonna is currently a guest of Citrus County Animal Services in Inverness, Florida. If you’re lucky enough to be nearby, why not contact them and ask to meet Madonna and all of her friends. You can find them on Facebook or call (352) 746-8400.

Shelter Sunday: Alice / K-9 Lifesavers / Washington, DC

Alice DC

Meet Alice! This 1-year old Bulldog mix prefers a home without cats or small children. Here’s what her rescuers have to say about her:

Alice is a sweet tripod hoping to find her forever home. She is very friendly and loving, especially during bath time! She is pretty mellow, and can’t walk super long distances. She is picky about her dog friends (and wouldn’t do well with cats), but loves people, especially men. She loves car rides and snuggles and doesn’t mark much. Can you find some room in your home and heart for this special lady? Alice would prefer to find a home with children over 10 years old.

Alice is currently a guest of K-9 Lifesavers in Washington, DC. If you’re lucky enough to be near our nation’s capitol, why not contact K-9 Lifesavers to find out more about Alice and all of her friends. You can e-mail [email protected] or call (202) 263-1990 or fill out an adoption application.

Wings of Rescue

When shelters are overrun and pets are in need, Wings of Rescue takes flight. Tito’s Handmade Vodka teams up with Wings of Rescue to support its mission of transporting pets from overcrowded shelters and disaster areas to safe havens and forever homes. With flights spanning state lines, Puerto Rico, and The Bahamas, this group has saved countless pets; and as long as there are dogs in danger, they aren’t stopping anytime soon.

What a great story for the holiday season!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Shelter Sunday: Nikko / First State Animal Shelter and SPCA / Camden, DE

Nikko DE

Meet Nikko! This handsome fellow is house-trained and prefers a home without other dogs or cats. Here’s what his rescuers have to say about him:

If you are looking for a wonderful companion come meet Nikko. He is a very vocal dog like all Siberian Huskies. Owning a Husky is big responsibility and shouldn’t be taken lightly. He needs to go to a home that is familiar with his breed and can handle his strong mind. Nikko loves belly rubs and is a very friendly boy. Nikko was adopted, but unfortunately his previous owner was not the most responsible. He was brought to animal control and thank goodness he found his way back to us in order to help him find a new stable and loving home.

Nikko is currently a guest at First State Animal Shelter and SPCA in Camden, Delaware. If you’re lucky enough to be nearby, why not contact the shelter to learn more about Nikko and all of his friends. You can email [email protected] or call (302) 943-6032.

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
