First the wacky news: From the Associated Press: Sales Manager Jeff Colucy of Columbus, Ohio got quite a shock when he took his dog outside for a morning constitutional Wednesday morning. Colucy is one of those fortunate people who gets to bring his dog to work at Buckeye Caseworks.
Tuesday Top Ten: Homemade Dog Food Ingredients
I was recently asked to discuss homemade dog food for a magazine article, which got me to thinking about the best ingredients to feed your dog. You’ll note that the top five are protein sources, because that’s what dogs crave and need most. The rest include sources of the other nutrients important to your dog’s health. All of these ingredients can be served raw and uncooked. Your dog’s digestive tract is built to handle raw food without risk of diseases like e.coli or botulism.

Spay / Neuter Education
Maybe this is common, but I’ve never seen it before. I ran across a great slogan for spay / neuter education on the PetFinder site for an organization called Second Chance for Animals here in Canton, OH.
You ready for it? It says:
DON’T LITTER! Spay or neuter your pets.
Have you ever seen that before? What a great way to get the concept across.
Just had to pass that along – I love creativity!
BTW, the picture above is of Roxanne, a Beagle / Dobie mix who is in foster care with Second Chance, waiting for a forever home.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog.

Working Dogs Weekend @ Lake Metroparks
Had I realized what a big deal this was, I would have posted about it earlier so you could make plans to go. We volunteered to take our dogs to a Dock Dogs demonstration event today (for people who want to see what it looks like when a dog WON’T jump). I just went into the park’s web site to find directions, and they have a HUGE event planned. Check out the working dog events they have planned.
If you’re going to be near Cleveland today, stop by and see us. I’ll try to take lots of pictures and post them in the coming week.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Saturday Survey: Does Your Dog Sing?
I posted earlier in the week about a concert in Sydney put on specifically for dogs. When I wrote it, I got to wondering whether or not the dogs sang along. Which, in turn, made me wonder if your dogs sing.
Gotta Love Those Newfies!
Do you love Newfoundlands? I just stumbled on a site called Newfie World, that specializes in all things Newfie. They have articles about care, diet, grooming, breeding, and health, as well as a blog and a “cutest pooch” contest. I have added their blog to our blogroll, and you can check out the site by clicking on this link: Newfie World.
Enjoy!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Dogs Movin’ and Groovin’ in Sydney
Did you see the news from the Sydney Opera House over the weekend? It seems American artist Laurie Anderson and rocker husband Lou Reed came up with the idea to have a concert specifically for dogs. The couple are dog lovers and thought it might be neat to look out from a concert stage onto a roomful of dogs enjoying the show.
