Help Displaced OK Pets

Our friends at Vetstreet had the good sense to put together a very nice list of organizations that are reaching out to help animal victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes. If you’d like to donate, here is their list. [Please note: The links to each organization didn’t come over, so I am including a link to the original Vetstreet article, where you can simply click through to the various places.]

The Life and Times of Hayden

Hayden started out his life with a family who didn’t know much about dogs. They didn’t like his barking, so they wrapped wire around his muzzle. Then he did something they really didn’t like, so they kicked him out of their home. But life began looking up soon enough for Hayden.

Very Special Welcome Home

What do you do when Daddy comes home from a long deployment, but your legs just don’t work well enough for you to run to the door to welcome him?

This beautiful Bulldog / Pit Bull mix just crawled on over to greet him. Due to a birth defect, Emma has Hemivertebra (literally “half-vertebrae”), causing her back end to drag on the floor because her legs don’t work right. But, she would not allow herself to be left out of the homecoming celebration.

Sweet!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

I bet they’re glad they chose this puppy!

When Richard Giannetta heard his Golden Doodle puppy, Louie, barking incessantly, he knew he’d better investigate. He found the dog on his bed, barking at his pregnant wife who had recently laid down for a nap.

Richard tried to rouse his wife, then rolled her over on her back when she wouldn’t wake up. He found her foaming at the mouth, having a seizure. Janelle was seizing because her blood pressure had risen dramatically due to a condition known as eclampsia.

Baby Charlotte was delivered by emergency C-section weighing just one pound, seven ounces. The whole family is said to be doing very well, in spite of the health scare. I’m thinking Louie will be looking forward to some extra love when mom and baby come home from the hospital!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Saturday Survey: Flying Dogs

We reported earlier this week about poor Hendrix, who was flown from Staten Island to Phoenix…by way of Ireland! The airline got him reunited with his owner safely in the end, but I’m sure there was quite a bit of angst during the detour. Would you ever fly your dog somewhere on a flight you weren’t on?
