Have you ever come home and found a snowstorm in your living room? If so, you know what a pain in the tuckus it can be to clean up after your dogs have destroyed a typical stuffed animal. SPOT Pet Products has found a solution, and they sent me a couple of samples to try out.

Find a Dog Park on Your iPhone
You all know how much I enjoy taking my dogs to Bow Wow Beach in Stow, Ohio. But if I were traveling, I might find this app really enticing.
Powered by DogParkUSA.com, the new Dog Park Finder Plus iPhone App compiles photos and reviews to give you all the information you need for a quick trip to the dog park or for a vacation across the country with your pooch. The
Dog Park Finder Plus app displays local dog parks and search results in both map and list pages. Park details include user ratings, fenced and un-fenced markers, on-leash rules, hours and days of operation and many other features.

Diesel the Rescue Dog
While we were wandering around the Stark County Fair yesterday, we saw a man walking this beautiful dog. His name is Diesel, and he’s a mix of Boxer and Pit Bull. Seems his new buddy, Dave, has a friend who works at the Humane Society. Diesel was about to be put down, but Dave decided he needed a new friend. What a great way to celebrate Labor Day weekend!
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
Adopt-a-Dog Fundraiser in Greenwich, CT

A Labor Day Tribute to Dogs
All Dogs Are Working Dogs
Some dogs listen to children read
Some dogs for blind people, lead
Some dogs protect the herds
Some dogs chase after birds
Some dogs guard hearth and home
Some dogs on the farm, roam
Some dogs just sit and listen
Some dogs keep the cats hissin’
Some dogs keep your lap warm
Some dogs stay in the dorm
Some dogs work with the cops
Some dogs are companions for Pops
Some dogs will lower your stress
Some dogs will clean up a mess
Some dogs care for the sick
Some dogs chase after a stick
There’s all kinds of work for a dog
They even come on your morning jog
When you need a helper or a friend
On your dog you can depend
In rain, sleet, snow, or fog
We can always count on our dog!

Saturday Survey: Best Breed You’ve Ever Had
If you’re reading this site, it’s no doubt you love dogs, but have you ever had a favorite? A dog that no other dog quite measures up to? There’s so many breeds, it’s hard to do this as a poll, so we’ll use breed groups, as recognized by the AKC. If you’re not sure where your dog fits, click here for the AKC listing of breed groups.

The Dogs are Swimming in Charleston
From the Charleston Daily Mail: An event is being held on Labor Day to raise money for the Putnam Animal Relief Fund to build a new shelter in Putnam County.
Dogs are invited to swim from 6 to 8 p.m. Labor Day at Valley Park Wave Pool. Donations will be accepted at the door toward building the new shelter.
On a related note (and I have to include this because it concerns my employer, American Electric Power): There will be a softball game at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at Valley Park in Hurricane. It will pit the Putnam Animal Relief Center Pounders against the AEP John Amos Plant Scrubbers. The teams pay to play, and donations will be accepted from spectators.
For more information on either event, call Karen Haynes at 304-757-7584.
Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
