This is my week to work our community festival sourrounding the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement. As with any large gathering, this one involves a police presence to keep the crowd in line. So, tonight I got to meet Buford, one of the most beautiful German Shepherds I’ve ever seen. He works with Patrolman Gilmore of the Canton Police Department. He let Buford out for a romp and a potty break in the area where I was working, so I asked to take a picture to share with you. Thanks, Patrolman Gilmore and Buford!

Tragic! Seven Dogs Die After American Airlines Flight
Tuesday was not a good day to be a dog aboard American Airlines flight 851 from Tulsa to Chicago. This was a connecting flight for 14 dogs, and when the airport workers began moving their kennels from flight 851 to their connections, they noticed the dogs appeared to be sluggish. Workers tried to cool the dogs and took them all to a local veterinarian, but half of the dogs expired.

The Psychiatrist is In: 5-cents
OK, since it is now Wednesday, I thought it would be a good time to follow up on Monday’s post about a dog named Tuesday. I stumbled across this article from the Wall Street Journal while I was looking for something else. If you watched the third video attached to Monday’s post, you learned a bit about Tuesday, a dog who helps veteran Luis Carlos Montalvan deal with severe PTSD. Here’s “The Rest of the Story.”
Tuesday Top Ten: Reasons to Support Our 4-Legged Soldiers
Now that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been off the front page of the newspaper for awhile, it’s easy to forget we have brave men and women giving their lives for our freedom. This is Clyde. Clyde is an 8 Year Old Neutered Male Mastiff Mix who has been in a shelter since December of 2007. He is going to need an owner that is experienced in handling large breed dogs and behavioral issues. Clyde’s unsure of strangers – once he knows you, he’s a big baby. He gets along with some other dogs, but does not like cats. Clyde’s a sweetheart, and has been waiting a long time for the right home to come along.

Saturday Survey: Does Your Dog Like Car Rides?
One of the advantages of our taking Cooper to Bow Wow Beach a few times is that he now looks forward to getting into his crate in the car. We used to have to shove, cajole, and otherwise force him in. However, he still gets sick nearly every time he rides more than about an hour.
