Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice

When Nicola Coyle retired from nursing, she started a dog hospice in Mansfield, England to help dogs live their best lives at the end of their lives. At a cost of about 500 Euros per dog, she provides a trip to the beach, complete with ice cream, and a steak dinner at a local pub.

Ms. Coyle runs the program out of her home, with some dogs in foster care. She pulls them from shelters and keeps them until they cross the rainbow bridge.

What a great ministry!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Shelter Bowl IV

shelter bowlIn honor of the big game this week, GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank is celebrating our fourth annual Shelter Bowl.

Help us meet our goal of $20,000 to provide nutritious pet food to shelter animals all across the United States.

Food is one of the most vital needs for animal shelters and rescues. It’s also the largest expense for many of these organizations, but more money spent on food means less funding for other life-saving programs for the animals in their care. Continue reading Shelter Bowl IV

Remember Me Thursday Encourages Dog Adoption

Animal lovers around the world are uniting on September 27th, for the global movement known as Remember Me Thursday. We will light candles to shine a light on those waiting in shelters and rescues, and to remember those who have tragically lost their lives in shelters while hoping to find a home and family of their own. Help raise awareness! Light a candle of remembrance and post a photo using the hashtags #RememberTheRescue #RememberMeThursday. Together we can help make a difference and get the world talking about pet adoption.

What will you do tomorrow to help dogs get adopted?

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!

Will you be anywhere near The Windy City this summer? The Chicago Tribune reports The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is backing a public art initiative called K-9s for Cops to bring 200 German shepherd statues to the Magnificent Mile and other locations from July 23rd to Labor Day.

The 54-inch statues will be made of fiberglass, designed and painted by local artists in collaboration with sponsors. After Labor Day, the statues will be auctioned off to benefit both the memorial foundation and PAWS Chicago, where the money will be used for a spay / neuter initiative. A similar project featuring Horses of Honor several years ago netted $480,000.

Can’t wait to see it!

Until next time,
Good day, and good dog!
