Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 2yo purebred blue merle Aussie girl. She’s has one blue eye, one brown eye and a docked tail. She was turned in with Lillie at the shelter, as an ex breeder dog. She is a rambunctious little gal for sure and we are working on getting her to stay down, she loves to jump on people! She is really a great dog, especially when she settles down. She loves to cuddle when she does settle down and she always has kisses to give. She is a little slow to warm up to some men, but loves women.
Looking for a cute photo op for your dog? PetSmart stores nationwide will again offer Santa Claws events each weekend in December, where you can have your dog’s picture taken with Santa. We did this years ago, and it turned out really cute.
Did you catch the six new breeds shown at the National Dog Show last week? They’re all beautiful, but I have to say the Redbone Coonhound is my favorite. In case you missed them, the six new breeds are listed below. Continue reading New Breeds in the AKC Stud Book→
Looking for a great dog grooming option in Los Angeles / Silver Lake? Urban Pet introduces their new full service grooming and self-service wash salon, with each pod being equipped with top of the line tubs, dryers, brushes and shampoos. Each pod also is inspired by great artists; Van Gogh, Picasso, etc.
Self service washes start at $20 – a whole lot less than I pay my groomer!
Isn’t this a great picture? It is from the Canton Repository, accompanying a story about a fox hunt in Central Ohio, where the goal is only to chase the foxes, not to kill them. As one of the girls involved in the hunt stated, “We want them there for the next week!”
I thought the story was interesting and it tells you a little bit about how hounds are trained for the hunt.
Shelter Sunday will be just a little different this weekend. I spent the holidays with my Mom in Southwestern Ohio, and as one of our outings, we went to the tiny (think 2-sided stop signs) town of Shandon, Ohio. As part of their annual Christmas in the Country festival, they had a dog parade featuring some of the dogs available for adoption at the Animal Adoption Foundation in nearby Ross, Ohio.
So, apparently I lied when I said my dogs only got their regular kibble. Just got a call from the dog-sitter that she accidentally left the pantry door ajar. My dogs had Pop-Tarts and popcorn overnight and are now paying the price. Yuck! Kind of glad I’m not home!
Did your dog enjoy Thanksgiving as much as you did? We had one commenter say her dog had the “unpleasant” task of saving hot water and energy by cleaning the plates, which made me wonder what your dogs will be eating. My dogs got left at home while we went to Grandma’s for the weekend, so they only had their normal kibble. Continue reading Saturday Survey: Your Dog’s Thanksgiving Meal→
